There is still time to register for DelphiCon 2023. The online event will run from February 14th (Delphi’s 28th Birthday) to the 16th. Head over to the DelphiCon website to save your virtual seat today. I will be presenting the following sessions:
- User Interface Design with Actions
- Spice Up Your Apps with Animations
Had to go to dentist today but caught a little about what you said about Delphi examples. Personally I hate those examples of “foobar” and whatever else doesn’t clue me in to what is immediately going on. Code should be “self-documenting”. The premise of code is part communication too. I’ve been criticized by fellow programmers for writing long variable names or naming fields in their estimation considered excessively long. But I do touch type and a more full name is easier to remember than an abbreviation. However if I have to come back to my code 1 or 2 years later, I am not reading for half an hour to understand what it was that I did. So far in your DelphiCon 2023, I liked everything you’ve said,.. even if it does make me at times feel like a newbie. Thank you for that. Been working with Delphi for a number of years and still feel like I am at the tip of the tip of the ice-berg… and in some ways even getting further away from the summit. I am hoping you produce another book in the future. Custom Delphi 3 components was written some time ago.
Hi Gregg. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the session.
Thak you for your sessions.
I follow them at the best I can (sometimes I can, sometimes I don’t).
Your material is quite cool however.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m glad you liked the sessions.
